The best things to do in Sydney this August

August is the perfect time to tick off some major social events. Enjoy theatrical experience at Riverside Theatres, visit Sydney Science Festival or join the City2Surf 14km race from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach. For those who prefer to warm up with carbs and a glass of mulled wine there is Italian Wine and Food Festival. You can fill the rest of the chilly season evenings with tried and tested trivia pub nights to keep your mind keen.

Whale watching in Sydney

Winter is the perfect time when you can spot from the shore as much as 20,000 whales migrating along the New South Wales coastline. Humpback whales will be your happy companions as they are heading north towards warmer waters, but you might also spot Orcas and Minke whales. Head to one of the many lookout spots but don’t forget your binoculars and camera to capture the action.
